Volkswagen's IDR DEMOLISHES the Goodwood record! #dailynews, 10/7/19

VOLKSWAGEN ID.R DEMOLISHES GOODWOOD HILLCLIMB RECORD

The well-known Volkswagen ID.R hillclimb car, famous for last year destroying the Pikes Peak record being driven by Romain Dumas, and also for claiming the electric record for cars around the Nürburgring, has claimed the record for the Goodwood hillclimb, and in an emphatic fashion too. The previous record, 41.6 by Nick Heidfeld in an McLaren MP4/13 F1 car, was utterly dismantled to the fashion of two seconds with a 39.9 second run.

RUSSELL INGALL RETURNS TO RACING

One-time V8 Supercars champion Russell Ingall will make his return to racing next weekend. Ingall, who won the title in 2005, and is renowned for his direct racing style, has signed a one-round deal with Melbourne Performance Centre to drive the #22 Audi, previously driven by Rik Breukers and Hamish Ribartis. He teams up with previous championship rival Garth Tander, as well as Aaron Cameron and Leanne Tander.

RENAULT MEGANE RS TROPHY-R IS THE NEW R26.R

Renault have dropped a hot hatch bomb today. Meet the R. S. Trophy R.

This car has claimed the Front Wheel Drive Nürburgring lap record (7:40.1), beating the regular Megane and the Honda Civic Type R. This is quite potentially due to the 286-pound weight reduction over the regular Megane. It also featured dual-flow dampers, carbon diffuser, carbonceramic brakes and race Bridgestone Potenza tyres. 500 will be produced.
