The Porsche 992 is the future of sports cars

We all know that in order to stay relevant, a product has to change over time. It's easy to see- when Coke was first invented, for example, it was completely different to today's stylised glasses available through fast food promotions and 'Share A Coke With' marketing gimmicks. Heck, it even had cocaine in it! And while Porsche don't sell anything with drugs involved (or at least, I hope not), the 911 is another example. It's evolved through seven generations now and has taken on several different phases within each generation, from a beautiful grand tourer to a track toy to, in some cases, a magnet to tuners.

The 992 was introduced in late 2019 for the 2020 model year, and there are currently several specifications, but no GT3 or GT2 (yet). The GT3 will likely be revealed in late 2020. It stays with the familiar 911 body shape and also the flat-six engine, now turbocharged in most models. There will be a lot more models and varieties in 2020 and 2021. Another interesting figure of this car is that the number '911' is hidden into the rear of the car. Can you find it? Clue: Look for something that stands out.

But it's not new features or hidden 911s that make the 911 special. It's the visceral driving experience, one that's made it the Prince of Sportscars from its inception in 1964 to the modern day 992 generation car. It's obviously had various different challengers throughout that time; earlier in its life it was often Ferrari while nowadays it's more Nissan GTRs and Audi R8s. But still it's always been, if not the market leader in outright performance, or comfort, it's been right there and almost always the most complete car.
