As usual, the Sandown 500 is Retro Round in V8 Supercars, with several teams electing to create special liveries. What are the best? I'll be rating each livery today, as will a special guest. For the first time in the blog's history, my father has made a special appearance. Each livery will be rated between 1st and 9th.

Tickford Racing- #55 (1969 Moffat Mustang)

Me- 4th

The Tickford car is just a really nice, uncluttered tribute to the Moffat car. It's not as messy as the regular livery either.

Dad- 7th

Well this just looks good, not over the top, simple and beautiful.

Total- 11

Erebus Motorsport- #9, #99 (JPS BMWs)

Me- 3rd

Black and gold always looks good (I'm a massive fan of the way that both Thomas Randle (Super2) and Angus Fogg (NZ TCM) present their cars). And this is no exception.

Dad- 1st

To me this is the best livery that I’ve seen so far. It looks better than the original BMW’s. I would love to see this livery to remain.

Total- 4

Tekno Autosport- #19 (Bob Morris Torana)

Me- 5th

The Tekno car does look pretty good and it's the first car with bright kermit green I've seen in a long time.

Dad- 2nd

Well who didn’t love the A9X Torana’s. This livery takes me back to the good old days. The only thing missing is the faired wheel archers.

Total- 7

Team 18- #18 (NASCAR Kurt Busch)

Me- 6th

I think this livery is an excellent throwback to one of NASCAR's glory periods. My only issue with it is that it isn't a Supercars livery.

Dad- 6th

This is a striking livery, when I saw it, I thought straight away of NASCAR, If they keep it around maybe one day it will become a classic for the retro round. Total- 12

23Red- #23 (Inversed colours)

Me- 9th

It looks good but it has one flaw. It isn't a retro livery. I can't rank it anywhere other than ninth for this reason.

Dad- 5th

Although this isn’t a retro livery, I just love the look. Great job hope they go on and keep this one because it just looks great.

Total- 14

BJR- #8 (Fujitsu)

Me: 2nd

The Fujitsu car just looks clean, and the white rear is an excellent contrast to the rest of the car.

Dad: 3rd

The colour scheme on this car just look great. I really love this livery, again I hope they keep it.

Total- 5

BJR- #14, #21 (Oz-E-Mail)

Me: 8th

To me, the Slade livery is decent but the Jones livery is just too complicated. The grille clashes badly.

Dad: 9th

a) Tim Slade

The black looks really good, another great job.

b) Maucley Jones

I really love the white as your eyes are really drawn to it. This would have rated better if they would have made the grill white too. The black grill detracts from the overall effect.

Total: 17

WAU- #2, #22 (1999 HRT)

Me: 7th

I think it looks alright. To be honest, it's a brilliant execution of a classic livery. The only reason it's this low is that I didn't like the original livery too much.

Dad: 4th

Now these guys have payed homage to the greats and a great period of racing for HRT. And the lion and helmet, just love it….

Total: 11

MSR- #35 (Sherrin Rentals 2009)

Me: 1st

Attention. Grabbing. Orange. It's eye grabbing, it gets people to notice it and while it isn't a legendary Supercars livery, it is legendary in Australian Production Cars, where the Sherrin BMW is the top dog. I love this livery.

Dad: 8th

This is another really clear livery, I have come over the years to love orange more and more.

Total- 9

So, the end results:

Erebus- 4

Fujitsu Racing- 5

Tekno Autosport- 7

Matt Stone Racing- 9

WAU- 11

Tickford- 11

Team 18- 12

23Red- 14

BJR- 17
