Recently there has been a sudden spate of supercar reveals. Let's begin with the older news of the two (which, at three days ago, is still pretty fresh).
Back in 2009, Lotus revealed they would launch 5 new models in 5 years. None were forthcoming. And now, ten years later, Lotus have finally launched a new car. It's called the Evija. And it is the most powerful road car in the world.

In the new power wars, there is no Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren currently. It's Lotus vs Pininfarina. Sure, McLaren are rumoured to be making another hypercar to compete, and Ariel are also considered to be in the mix. But at the moment, the Lotus is just ahead of the Pininfarina Battista. However, there may be another shock to come. Lotus is only saying at the moment that the Evija has a 0-60 time under 3 seconds. According to theoretical modelling by Topspeed.com, the Lotus Evija, when tested, could become the first production car to break the two second 0-60 barrier. https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/lotus-evija-isn-t-quick-enough-for-a-near-2-000-horsepower-ev-hypercar-ar186052.html However, in another TopSpeed article, Robert Moore suggests reasons why the car is a mistake for the brand (https://www.topspeed.com/cars/opinion-the-lotus-evija-is-a-big-mistake-for-the-brand-ar186050.html) I agree regarding certain parts of the article. However, I feel that if this car can reach 300kmh in 9 seconds, this would make sense considering the likely 0-60 time according to TopSpeed of 1.9 seconds. Other things to note is that the EVija is all-electric, unlike the Pininfarina which is hydrogen-powered.
But the bigger news is that the Mid Engined Corvette C8 has been revealed.

The Corvette doesn't have many stats shown at the moment, but has been officially revealed. The LT2 engine, making 495 horsepower, is certain, whereas a 5.5L V8 and a hybrid powertrain are rumoured. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic. 0-60, like the Lotus, is less than 3 seconds, but unlike the Lotus, it's likely to be at the same place (2.8 seconds) as the ZR1 C7. It is an exciting car, particularily as it will be made in right-hand-drive, meaning that it could possibly be cheaper than a Camaro in Australia, and it will certainly be close in price, as it will be about $60000 USD.
As an aside, I will have more interesting content coming to the blog soon, with a wrap of RACQ Motorfest in the next few days.
