Under The Hood- McLaren GT

The one McLaren that wasn't fully released in time for my Saturday Top 10 list, and still isn't on sale, is the McLaren GT. The GT is McLaren's first dedicated Grand Tourer. While the 570GT has been called a 'GT', it, in the words of CAR Magazine, features room 'for an extra tissue box'. It's based on the 720S, and has significantly greater storage capacity with a glazed tailgate.

It features the same twin-turbo V8 from the 720S, retuned for less high-end performance and more low-rev response. It outputs 612hp (more than the actual Ferrari 612). It also features the well-publicised active suspension from the 720S. It can reach 203 miles per hour. As a GT, it ticks the necessary requirements such as 570 litres of storage space, Nappa leather and comfort seats.

The GT will fight against cars such as the Aston Martin DB11, Ferrari GTC4Lusso, Maserati GranTurismo and Porsche Taycan. It's a really nice car, and should generate a fair chunk of sales in the segment, and a market leader in the cross-segment for GTs with supercar-level performance (such as the Ferrari 812).
