Recently, I was at a car show, where I found something very interesting. This car is a Ford Consul Capri, which is the coupe version of the Consul Classic. It features a 1.5L engine, weighs 953 kilograms and 20000 were made, which makes it rare for a 50 year old car.

Top speed is 127kmh, acceleration is 22.6 seconds and the car cost 915 pounds in 1962, which equates to about $14000AUD in today's money. A lot more exciting than a Suzuki Celerio. The Consul Capri featured items such as variable speed wipers, 9.5 in (241 mm) front disc brakes, dimming dashboard lights and a cigar lighter.

The Consul was never popular. Only 110000 of the sedan and 19000 coupes were produced with the Capri not being favoured to the Cortina. Ultimately it was withdrawn in 1964 as a footnote for the motoring archives.
