Today, we're starting a three part series about the Forza Horizon series. I'm going to take a look at each instance of Horizon (other than FH4, as it's still current) and determine my favourite cars that haven't returned to the franchise from that game. I haven't included Toyota or Lexus as they had well known licencing issues, however that's about it.
15. Chevy Vega
Kicking off my Forza Horizon 3 list is the Chevrolet Vega. The Vega was similar to the Ford Pinto but a lot less crashy and explode-y. The Vega, which was introduced in 1970 but the ingame model was from 1971, might not be in the game due to some other classic introductions, but is still a nice car.
14. Volvo 123/1800GT
Now here are cars that still deserve a place in game. The 123 and 1800GT are two different and very old Volvos that probably deserve a place in any Euro game if they're in the Aussie edition. The 123 is a old commuter car, but the 1800GT is quite famous as The Saint's sporty coupe.
13. Infiniti IPL G
This is the G35 Skyline, but in a different name. It's no longer in the game, and I don't think ti will be anytime soon with the Toyotas coming into the game.
12. Mercedes 300SEL
Classic Mercs are always quite cool (the A-Class isn't classic yet) and I think Forza attested to this by the inclusion of the Kurz Baker SS in the Car Pass. So should the 300SEL be added? I think so, but then again I think that about a lot of cars. The 300SEL is a very nice old sedan, and a good option for entry-level classic car ownership.
11. Plymouth Prowler
The Prowler is a very interesting car. It had no V8, despite being a throwback to the 1930s hot rods, and also had some.... interesting styling. Overall it was a pretty decent car though.
10. Ford F100 Abatti Trophy Truck
The Abatti Trophy Truck is sort of the modern day trophy truck combined with classic style. The classic F100 body turns heads in TT racing, but also as the Forza official descriptions said, 'Robby Gordon has raced this truck in Class 8 and once ended up so far ahead that race spectators thought he was lost when they spotted him'.
9. Porsche 928 GTS
It's suprising that a Porsche is on this list as they were only added as DLC after the game was released. However, the 928 didn't return to FH4, with the only one of its kind being the 944 Turbo. It's a shame; the 928 was a cool V8 Porsche that only ended up with a bad reputation due to it being different to a 911, and therefore instantly awful to the purists.
8. Nissan Silvia (1966)
This is a genuinely cool old car. The old Silvia wasn't very well known, but it's very muchly worth adding. The classic car sadly had only 550 examples made, but it definitely should be more, as it was a gentle old sports coupe that spawned the iconic S15.
7. BMW 635Csi
The 635 is one of my favourite 80's cars not called the F40. It's a sophisticated coupe with a lovely six-cylinder engine built by BMW, which meant it had decent power and handling.
6. Subaru SVX
The SVX is one of my favourite 90's sports coupes. It featured the interesting combination of a horizontal six and all wheel drive. It was also called the Alcyone SVX, after the Alcyone, its predecessor. A prototype wagon was also developed but never released, sadly.
5. Lamborghini jalpa
The Jalpa was a lovely old Lamborghini and very few of these sort of cars have been added into games; the Jarama was added to FH4 but the Jalpa wasn't. It, as well as cars like the Silhouette, Urraco, Islero and Espada, should be considered, particularily the last two which I really do like.
4. Ford Falcon XR8/XR GT/XY GTHO
The classic Aussie Fords are underrepresented in FH4, but why were the XA and XB, which look almost identical (compared to the others), picked? Any of the three above- the genesis XR, the legendary XY and the XR8 from the 90's- could have just as easily been added.
3. 1977 Aston V8 Vantage
This is a car that really should never have been dropped, as it's an iconic British car. The classic Vantage isn't quite as well known as a DB5, but is very good anyway. It probably should be in FH4.
2. Spania GTA
I'm suprised the GTA Spania isn't in the latest game; the car was in Horizon 3 not just once, but twice with the Duracell edition. The car itself is the most recent supercar/hypercar from Spain but is in a completely different to the other Spanish supercar, the lightweight, track focused Tramontana.
1. Baldwin Motorsports Trophy Truck
Admittedly this has been replaced by the RJ Anderson Trophy Truck in Forza Horizon 4, but the Baldwin Motorsports Truck was in my opinion, even better looking. The Baldwin was, in addition to being pretty cool, one of the feature cars in FH3 and also had a bucket list item at the Silver Sands beach.
So that's my top 15 cars from FH3 that haven't returned in FH4. What do you think? Let me know below.
