V8 Supercars is one of the world's best touring car categories, but it does have some issues, for example the international expansion debarcle, the costs and also manufacturer involvement. The Gen3 rules in 2022 and cost reductions in 2020 could assist this, so who could potentially come to supercars? I'll rate the top candidates in an order, so let's begin!

8. Porsche Panamera

I can't be punished for dreaming, right???

7. Jaguar XE-S

Jaguar are quite a name in racing, from the XK140 in 1952, to the Emil Frey Jaguars of today. The Jaguar brand probably will not join Supercars, but if they would I'd expect it to look similar to the Holden ZB style.

6. BMW 3-Series

The BMW seems about as likely as the Jaguar and Porsche to join V8 Supercars, but it's experienced in touring cars and the 3-Series has competed in the BTCC and WTCC before, and the Gen3 style would look similar.

5. Mercedes E-Class

This one is the first that could realistically happen and indeed it has seen action before. This car pictured above is an Erebus Motorsport car from 2015, which has seen track action this year with a view to potentially running it in Super2 in the near future. The Mercedes could also be reintroduced with the new C-Class.

4. Nissan GTR

Nissan have withdrawn their manufacturer backing for Kelly Racing but the new rules could definitely reattract them, and if they rejoin they will probably bring a new car, considering the Altima isn't even on sale in Australia anymore. The most likely candidate would be the GTR, but the 370Z would be an option. All I know is that Andre Heimgartner would finally get a properly good car, which should vault him into championship contention.

3. Dodge Challenger

A Dodge would almost certainly join Supercars if it comes to Australia in right-hand-drive. The candidate for the new coupe-style rules would be the Challenger. The car above is a TA2 muscle car that the Dodge Challenger takes part in.

2. Kia Stinger

The Kia Stinger has been touted by almost every critic who has driven it as the natural successor to the Commodore, so get it in there! For no particular reason, I've included a police car picture.

1. Chevrolet Camaro

This is almost confirmed, as WAU are expected to go to the Camaro as soon as the rules don't mean the looks of the car have to be completely modified. This is also a TA2 above.

That's my list of cars that could become a V8 Supercar! Do you agree? Can you think of others? Let me know below!
