Today, we are doing something a little different for a Tuesday. Because I've been quite busy on my weekends recently, I haven't done a #SaturdayChill post for a few weeks now, and I don't have any big news to discuss today, so I thought I'd do something relaxed after a spate of news articles recently. Today, we're looking at the Gr.3 in Gran Turismo Sport. The class nominally is for GT3 cars, but there are quite a few interlopers there that are worth peeking at. So let's begin.
ALFA ROMEO 4C GT3

Appearance (A): Well, it looks everything like an Alfa GT3 would do- but it also has some hillclimb tones with that massive rear wing.
Performance (P): It has 500hp as a base, which is quite low. I think this car would probably favour a track like Magione in Assetto Corsa, or Monaco.
Will it become real?: No. But, Alfa are rumoured to be working on a new 8C, and a new GTV version of the Giulia, and they are the main reason for the outright no. They could get one.
GT BY CITROEN Race Car

A: Angry. Back in 2008 when this car was made it had otherworldly looks and performance, and while the performance world has moved on, the car looks futuristic still.
P: 600hp. While the SRT Viper is absolutely insane with 678hp, the only other more powerful cars are the Supra and the AMG GT3. I'd assume it's work very well in a mostly speed-dominated track such as Bathurst, or Spa.
Will it become real?: No chance. It's a one off show car.
FORD Mustang Gr3

A: It looks like what the Mustang V8 Supercar should look like. And it's brilliant. I can really dig this car with a Monster Energy, or Skye Sands, or Scandia livery, as well as the familiar Ford Performance base livery.
P: 550hp. A very well balanced car. Good but not absolutely superb everywhere.
Will it become real? If there is no Ford GT successor, maybe. If the GT returns, don't expect it.
HYUNDAI Genesis Gr3

A: Looks like a rally car. Maybe the familiar N Racing livery helps...
P: 510hp. I'd assume this car would grip very well given that Hyundai have solid TCR experience which is a category with a low horsepower limit.
Will is become real? Not in GT3. But maybe in GT4, we could see this.
JAGUAR F-Type Gr3

A: Like the Alfa, it looks everything you'd expect it to be.
P: 550hp. Presumably a very well balanced car like the Mustang. But with added British flair and suave.
Will it become real? Not in GT3, but maybe like the Hyundai in GT4. Jaguar would probably dig the GT4 element of factory based racing rather than the GT3 style. And Emil Frey has moved across to Lexus.
MAZDA Atenza (Mazda6) Gr3

A: Well. This is the most oddball of all the oddballs in the Gr3 class. Looks a lot like a V8 Supercar, a fair bit like a Stock Car Brazil entrant, and should maybe be more towards a Touring Car class. But still, it's fairly cool, even as a flight of fancy.
P: 567hp. It is very much like a V8 Supercar with that power level! I'd assume that this car would do alright around a track like Catalunya or Estoril with the long front straights and some turns in the back area.
Will it become real? Do I even need to write anything here?
McLAREN F1 GTR Gr3

A: Like a McLaren F1 GTR.
P: Like a McLaren F1 GTR.
Will it become real? It is. The only reason why it's here, is because it's from 1995 and this is a modern category. It's a true cat among the electronic era pigeons.
MITSUBISHI Lancer Gr3

A: Another to have a serious Time Attack feel, it also looks to have been pinched straight from the grid of a Super GT race.
P: 522hp. Well, I can predict its engine doesn’t sound like a time attack car! It's more suited to a track like the one it was probably designed for in Suzuka.
Will it become real? No. #ripEvo
PEUGEOT Vision GT

A: Peugeot seem to have taken the contours of the Citroen and given it a Peugeot twist. Well, they are from the same parent company...
P: 542hp. And their own powertrain. It's probably a more corner-focused car than its sibling.
Will it become real? Well, one less exists than the Citroen GT. Which one exists of. So no.
PEUGEOT RCZ Gr3

A: Where's Ari Vatanen when you need him?
P: 517hp. And it seems to be similar, performance wise, to the Climb Dance monsters. Big horses, bigger aero, what’s not to like?
Will it become real? That. That's what's not to like. The fact it will never become real.
RENAULT RS01

A: Futuristic. Hypercar. Wow.
P: 534hp. Now, this car mixed it with the SCG and the GT3 heavies in the 2018 N24, so never write it off. As much as it did replace a Clio in the Renault racing lineup.
Will it become real? It is, but it'll never race in GT3.
SUBARU STi Gr3

A: Copy and paste from the Mitsu.
P: 522hp. Copy and paste from the Mitsu.
Will it become real? Not quite a copy and paste from the Mitsu, but only because this isn't dead. No way will this race in GT3.
TOYOTA FT-1

A: Very familiar. I wonder why...
P: 534hp. This isn't the OP version of the Supra GRMN, this is the OG. It's a decent car, probably slightly more favoured toward the handling.
Will it become real? Chances are very favourable, given the Supra GRMN concept. Would be cool to see Toyota go at two or more classes at LM in 2021...
VW Beetle Gr3

A: This is a fan favourite of a car. Looks quite angry for a beetle, but they managed to turn a mundane hatch into a beast without bastardizing it.
P: 592hp. This car is a beast in the straights.
Will it become real? No. Which is an absolute tragedy.
VW Golf GTI Vision GT.

A: The first ever Cabriolet GT3. The first ever Volkswagen GT3. The most outlandish thing you'll see today, maybe except the Peugeot.
P: 550hp. A well rounded car. Think of this like its sister cars, the Porsche and AUdi...
Will it become real? No. But VW are very creative in their design.
So thank you for looking at this runthrough of some fantasy cars in Group Three in GT Sport! What was your favourite? Comment below!
