It's back again! After Anton's big win, there were many driver changes including Erebus getting a third car, as well as DJR hiring Nick Percat and Fabian Coulthard returning to BJR. However, the season went something like this...
Daytona: Polesitter Whincup damaged his car and didn't finish in the top 15. De Pasquale was involved in a nasty accident with Jake Kostecki but both were unharmed. Van Gisbergen won from Mostert and McLaughlin.
Adelaide: Anton converted pole to a victory. Several cars, including Jake Kostecki, Heimgartner and Davison crashed. Anton won from McLaughlin and Whincup.
Watkins Glen: McLaughlin took a pole. De Pasquale just stayed on the lead lap after spinning on lap 5. Several engine failures, most notably for Percat and Mostert, were noted. SVG won from McLaughlin and Whincup.
Barbagallo: Whincup took pole. Anton struggled in qualifying but clambered his way back up the order in the race. Heimgartner crashed, bringing out a late safety car. McLaughlin mastered the restart to lead Anton and Whincup home by a second.
Talladega: Pole for SVG didn't seem to be such an advantage when ten laps in, the top 27 cars were within two seconds. Holdsworth ended up winning in a suprisingly good performance from Whincup and le Brocq.
Darwin: McLaughlin took pole but spun on lap 2. Holdsworth had a similar accident to his 2017 one. Le Brocq took a win from Whincup and Percat in quite an attritioned race.
Martinsville: SVG took pole. It wasn't the caution fest of 2020 but there were a lot of damage and laps lost due to spins and issues. Garry Jacobson took a suprise win from the 9 and 99 Erebus cars.
Mosport Park: SVG took another pole. The first Big One of the season took place in an unexpected location when Waters spun across the pack. Whincup won from le Brocq and de Pasquale.
Bristol: McLaughlin was on pole. SVG lost a lap early on, while quite a few different drivers suffered crashes or retirements. Davison won from le Brocq and Percat.
Simmons Plains: Anton took pole; McLaughlin won. Boring race.
Coca-Cola: Le Brocq took pole. Whincup, then Anton and SVG were taken out in successive big one accidents. Rick Kelly took his first win in two years, from Reynolds and Holdsworth.
Lakeside: Davison took pole. De Pasquale won. Boooooooring.
Darlington: SVG took another pole. He and Percat benefited from the Big One when they got a free pit stop. They did return but SVG converted from Whincup and Holdsworth.
Montreal: SVG took pole... again. However, he suffered a fuel pump failure, allowing Whincup to win from Anton and McLaughlin.
Charlotte: SVG took his third consecutive pole. Anton lost an engine in the last third. SVG won from Percat and Holdsworth.
Portland: SVG took pole four in a row. In a fairly uneventful race, Anton won from SVG and Heimgartner.
Sonoma: Five in a row for SVG. McLaughlin and SVG suffered from a accident and lost the lead lap early. WHincup won from Fullwood and Reynolds.
Bathurst: Holdsworth took pole. SVG went out at lap 30, McLaughlin at lap 55. Anton won from Whincup and Winterbottom, taking his first Bathurst.
Gold Coast: Heimgartner took the pole. SVG stopped on track at lap 8. Whincup also retired, while McLaughlin took the win from Anton and Heimgartner.
Pocono: Anton took a pole, one of the contenders for the championship (with SVG). Anton, le Brocq and Whincup all lost laps with spins, with Anton being taken out by an out of control Reynolds. Davison won from Holdsworth and McLaughlin.
Indy: SVG took pole. Anton could have taken the championship lead but suffered a engine problem and retired, meaning Waters took the win from Percat and le Brocq.
Homestead: Le Brocq took pole. Anton had a tough race while SVG took the race and championship.
